Happy Int’l Women’s Day!
Honored to meet with a sweet soul whose name is Sol on 2/22/22. She is based in Amsterdam with her women-led business supporting brand-building entrepreneurs.
The list of female CEOs whom I’ve worked with and for grows longer every year, fueling the passion I pour into Pivotal In-site.
Let’s take it back to the start. First and foremost, honorable praise for the brilliant and beautiful woman who inspires me wholeheartedly in every Moment, every day, forever:

*I love you, Mom! Thank you for gifting me this wild and precious life to treasure.

High school: Worked under Paula Evans Neuman, editor at The News Herald, which also featured my dad with his invention, the Temper Tamer, in October 1990 when I was age 1:

College: Worked under Lindsay Patton-Carson, editor at Revue West Michigan. Ballsiest woman I've ever met, Lindsay actually wrote about pooping her pants mid-marathon.

NYC: Worked as a writer for Anjula Acharia in her snazzy Times Square office alongside Classpass Founder Payal in 2011. This was a remarkably revolutionary time in my career for which I am so immensely grateful to have experienced fresh out of college.

L.A.: Ran the editorial department for Anjula Acharia’s entertainment company website in 2012-2013 while nannying beyond full-time for too many families to count from Beverly Hills to Venice, including Miracle Mile, Culver City, Santa Monica, Brentwood, Westwood, etc. During this time, I also started Not Your Average Nanny Magazine, which grew globally within the first few months of launching the premier issue in April 2014.
I can't mention the treasured time living in Los Angeles without sharing a few dear friends who are entrepreneurs, too! I met so many sensational women who run businesses in L.A. with still so much love and respect today. From the sweet owner of the boutique I frequented often on Wilshire Blvd in Miracle Mile just steps from my studio apt:

...to my absolutely extraordinary friend, Jaz Gray, who is truly exceptional in every way:

NOLA: Wrote for Jan Ramsey’s OffBeat Magazine after I briefly worked in this Uptown house for the new Sucre owner, and then for a brilliant female lawyer in the Bywater, and also for this incredibly creative rockstar entrepreneur, Erica Sage Johnson:
...all while also joining Angie Scott’s national marketing company in 2015, where I worked my way from Junior up to Senior Editorial Internet Marketing Associate on the Content side of the Production Team. Because the starting wage was so low ($11/hour), I continued to simultaneously run my branded childcare service, The NOLA Hotel Nanny turned The Hotel Nanny Group, caring for infants and small children on evenings and weekends for hundreds of global travelers all over NOLA, especially during peak tourism windows like Carnival season leading up to Mardi Gras and the yearly spectacle of Jazz Fest.
One of the visiting families I cared for during a national tech convention happened to be Austin, TX-based female founder of IDEGO, a VR company on a mission to help heal and strengthen mental health, who also holds down the fort as CEO at Underminer Studios. I wrote the copy and managed media strategy for both companies after caring for the kiddos during the big convention. At that same time, I was also working in business development, driving lead generation for Forge with CEO Stacey Ferreira, who I met at a networking mixer during Social Media Week in Santa Monica, CA in 2012:

Panama: I joined the editorial team for Live & Invest Overseas led by female founder & CEO, Kathleen. During this time, I also met and wrote about Roz Baitel, who is the phenomenal founder of Promises Panama and Owner of Linton Bay Marina:

Roz is from NOLA, which is why she first emailed me upon discovery of this article I wrote. I also covered several amazing designers’ stories during Fashion Week and wrote a wealth of content - 30 features monthly! - for the global travel guide, Culture Trip, under London-based editor, Charlotte, thanks to a referral from fellow writer, Martina.
I could keep going with several more women with whom I’ve worked since then, from recently representing Jenn Greenhut's brand to supporting my friend, Kayla Vallar and joining Brittany Satterfield's team. Working with and supporting women fills my cup to the brim every time, which is why I'm so happy to do so always.
One extraordinary woman who inspired me & the whole world last year: Amanda Gorman. We all watched her deliver a monumental moment together. That same day, The Moth uploaded this roar-filled throwback to 2017:
My most recent favorite discovery of a rockstar is Bola, the brilliant CEO leading women to learn the ropes of wealth-building as Founder of Clever Girl Finance.
“Money mindset is like a muscle. You have to continuously work it to stay on top of it.” -Bola, CEO of Clever Girl Finance, shares insight about her “Assess - Forgive - Continue” approach to budgeting as a constant work in progress. Bola describes her own bucket-based budgeting style I admire and aim to borrow in my own financial wellness journey to boundless financial freedom upon a firm, yet flexible foundation of mindfully sound, moneywise roots of financial integrity.
Happy Women’s History Month to all the women of the world! Hope you enjoyed this shared slice of my own story on International Women’s Day. 🍰🦁🎂 Mahaloha!
Cheers,
*MINY CALAPA*
